UNITED Kingdom based football enthusiast and philanthropist , Antony Ncube, has donated football kit to Ntabazinduna Football Club.
The former ZIFA southern region soccer outfit, has been on a hiatus following a myraid of challenges chief among them financial challenges covid 19 induced pitfalls.
As a result the ZIFA Southern region had been robbed of a formidable side, which used to host football legends select teams and premier side teams in particular Highlanders during off season matches.
In what could be a persuasive gesture to returning to the beautiful game the once forceful Ntabazinduna side seemed to have been rejuvenated by this donation.
Receiving the kit interim team manager, Mela Dlamini, applauded, Ncube, for the kind gesture.
“I would like to thank Mr Ncube for what he has done for our team, this is unbelievable in a short space of time we had received what he had promised us,”said Dlamini.
Ncube has been donating football kits to various schools and teams across the country.
“I love the game of soccer so it is against this background that I contribute in giving out kits, which I know are a challenge to the majority of community and school teams.
Responding to questions as to how it costs to bring about this football kits he said the love for the game motivates him.
” As I have mentioned, it’s out of sheer love to the football game so its my obligation to meet the costs and ensure that I bring a football jersey to team which is in need,” said Ncube.
It is the first time that Ncube had donated to a former formidable side in most instances he donates to schools.
” Ntabazinduna community loves the game of soccer so in reaching out to this great side I believe they will reconsider picking up their boots again,” he said
Ncube aims to use the persuasive influence of soccer to campaign against the now prevalent substance and drug abuse amongst the youths.
” I feel obliged to also campaign against drugs and substance abuse by our youths”, Ncube said.
Ncube reiterated that his aim is to provide football hope to the impoverished and underprivileged communities.
Some of the benefiaries teams in Bulawayo includes, Lobengula Football Club and Babambeni Primary School, which was sponsored with football kit, footballs, covid 19 thermometers.
Ncube, however pledged to continue supporting the underprivileged teams.
