THE Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has publicly denounced Dexter Nduna’s attempt to seize control of the city’s parking management system, currently operated by TTI Parking Management. Reports suggest Nduna’s company, Security Eye, is gearing up to take over this crucial service by October 1, raising significant concerns among local authorities.

Deputy Mayor Edwin Ndlovu addressed the controversy, emphasizing that the parking management issue has been previously resolved and sanctioned by the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA), the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PRAZ), and Cabinet. “The procurement process is strictly regulated; policymakers set the framework, while operational details are handled within legal parameters. We will not tolerate any lawlessness that disrespects our investors,” Ndlovu asserted.

Insiders have reported unsettling recruitment practices by Security Eye, including demands for payment of $10 for fingerprinting and $30 for uniforms before employment even begins. Promises of monthly wages reaching $500 have drawn the interest of many local youths.

When reached for comment, Nduna confirmed the recruitment drive, stating, “Yes, we are actively hiring residents, particularly the youth, and conducting necessary background checks.” He assured that comprehensive training will be provided to all new employees.

As tensions rise, the BCC aims to reassure residents and stakeholders that it remains committed to upholding the law and maintaining an orderly process in the face of potential upheaval in Bulawayo’s parking management landscape.
