PHYSICALLY challenged elderly woman, Maria Sibelo who hails from Binga’s lubimbi ward 20 under Chief Kavula has received a shot in the arm from a philanthropic social group.
The social group, Bbila Mangwatu was formed in 2015 with the sole mission of helping physically challenged and widowed women in the district.
Sibelo, however got the sympathy of the group after realising she was facing difficulties fending for herself under the current harsh economic situation.
Bbila Mangwatu Social group came to the rescue of the 60 year old widow with an assortment of goodies including grocery, kitchen utensils and clothes.
Speaking to, The Zambezi Times, founder and group representative Bornface Mucimba said they will continue with their philanthropic work.
“The group would like to continue identifying and assisting other community members in a similar situation by donating anything we will manage to source individually and as a group,” he said.
Sibelo popularly known as Masibelo got the fate of her life from a snake bite while she was 30. Due to poor access to medical facilities in the district she could not get treatment on time. This unfortunately led to the amputation of one of her legs.
“MaSibelo is a widow leaving with disability and from what we got she get divorced as consequence of her being amputated she was bitten by a snake due to lack of adequate clinics in this ward and district by the time she was transferred to Bulawayo it was too late and they had to amputate her leg in order to save her life,” Mucimbi said.
Julius Kanamo Munenge a family member expressed his gratitude to Bbila Mangwatu social group.
“ We did not expect such a gesture like to the family this more of manna from heaven,” he said.
