NTABAZINDUNA based ZIFA Bulawayo Central Region Division 2 football club Bhekeni Celtic has donated vegetables to Mpilo Central Hospital and Bulawayo Prison.
The donation was the team’s appreciation on how the hospital has treated some of the team’s players who got admitted at the hospital at the height of COVID-19 pandemic.
The team members were not however victims of the COVID-19 pandemic but diarrhoea which recently left 13 people from Bulawayo dead.
“This donation to Mpilo Hospital, we did it in appreciation of the hospital medical personnel’s hard work when two of our boys were admitted during the diarrhoea disease that had hit Luveve suburb,”said club chairman, Thandanani Moyo.
Celtic FC vice chairperson Kelvin Robbo Ndlovu and player Keegan Muvhuringi were a few months ago hospitalised as they were in a bad condition.
He added:“We also donated some vegetables to Bulawayo Prison through Ntabazinduna Satellite Prison.”
Bhekeni Celtic is a team which emerged from the popular Ntabazinduna Football Association Social league (NFASL) and settled for the competitive professional lower tier division 3.
“The club registered with Bulawayo Province Division 3 in 2018 and won the Championship and went on to be promoted to Division 2 for the 2019 season. At the moment we are still in Bulawayo Province Division 2 league,” Moyo said.
A formidable side ever to emerge from the deep rural side and first team in the area’s social league to be roped into the real world of football in the division three category getting promoted into more competitive division 2.
The team is headquartered in Ntabazinduna Bhekeni village’s Luthi B line and hence the team, Bhekeni Celtic FC was named after this village.
As The Zambezi Times can reveal, club president and owner Thandiwe Tshili who is based in the United Kingdom used to fly home to witness the last few games of her team as implied from the circumstances then that her side was fire sure and cusp to land on to the more competitive division two league.
In an interview, Thuli said she just liked soccer since her childhood and hence extending her childhood desire by supporting grassroots soccer from the community which sired her.
“It’s true that I used to come down home to see the wonderful progress of the team as we were hoping and as it stands it came true we did settled for Division two,” she said.
Bekheni Celtic is set to transform the football face of the community since the departure into oblivion of the once competitive division two side ZPCS owned Ntabazinduna Football Club.
“Ntabazinduna community is a soccer loving community and this why we had to support the club president’s vision of transforming the face of our loved game of football from grass roots levels,” Moyo further noted
