EMAKHANDENI residents are seething with anger over their councillor, claiming that he is useless.
Matters in the high-density suburb of Bulawayo came to a head in September after more than 10 axe wielding thieves ransacked 3 houses and made away with US$600.
In response to the daring robbery residents created a WhatsApp group and added the Councillor, Pilate Moyo, into the group.
Moyo was miffed by this and left the group saying he doesn’t discuss matters over WhatsApp.
Since then, residents have been baying for Moyo’s blood.
They allege that he is useless.
WhatsApp messages from the group cited by this publication made scathing remarks on Moyo.
“As big as our suburb is we do not have a borehole. Can you imagine,” said one resident, whose user name is Thabo.
“Who do we tell since our councillor is useless,” added Thabo.
Another resident, Namandla said: “He is useless and he comes to us when it is elections time. He doesn’t represent us”.
However, asked to comment on allegations against him Moyo defended himself and said he doesn’t use WhatsApp to discuss the Ward’s issues.
“They know my house and my office. They can come any time and l have an open-door policy,” said Moyo.
“Residents must come to me and we set up a meeting. How do you take minutes from a WhatsApp group.
” Are they genuine Emakhandeni residents? How will l know? We need a proper meeting so that we take minutes of it and whatever resolution we make, l can then take it to council.”
