THE Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Zimbabwe leader, innocent Ndibali who resigned last year has bounced back reclaiming his position.
Ndibali who is based in the United Kingdom was forced to step aside last year following an internal agreement, as the party felt there was need for someone local to lead it for easy coordination.
However, less than three months after he took the bold decision for the party he founded four years ago, Ndibali is back in the fold, taking over from Xolani Tshuma who was the interim president.
In a statement Monday, Ndibali announced his return vowing to revamp the party.
“In response to the need to continue with growing the revolution and ensuring that the gains of the revolution are protected from counter-revolutionaries sponsored by external forces has taken a strategic decision to change the top leadership of the party.
“The top leadership of the party has been changed to ensure that the revolutionary objectives of the party continue to be pursued for the benefit of the poor masses of the people of Zimbabwe. EFF Zimbabwe is a radical, militant economic emancipation movement which brings together fearless and radical activists,” Ndibali said.
He added: “Zimbabwe requires a political party that is anchored on the principles of delivering socialist economic power to indigenous people of Zimbabwe. We are that party. To ensure that we have a strategic advantage to advance our objectives, EFF Zimbabwe leadership has decided to unanimously bring back the party founder Ndibali to assume the position of the president.”
Ndibali said he was already working on revamping the party structures in preparation of the 2023 structures.
“President Ndibali will be reaching out directly to the fighters at the ground level through the party communication protocols. The fight for a fairer, safer, healthier, wealthier, and economically stable Zimbabwe has been renewed. We know that this is a fight our leadership is willing to lead.”
Meanwhile, Tshuma will now have to revert to his previous position of deputy president.
