TWO opposition leaders have hailed President Emmerson Mnangagwa for creating the Political Actors Platform (Polad) where he regularly meets 2018 presidential aspirants.
Mnangagwa created the Polad after the 2018 elections as a platform for dialogue.
Bulawayo based Democratic Opposition Party (DOP) leader Harry Wilson and his Zimbabwe Partnership (ZP) counterpart Innocent Netanyahu said they remain indebted to Mnangagwa for creating Polad.

“The gesture (vehicles) of the office of the president and cabinet was not a favour but a just reciprocal action, or rather a positive and in good faith on the part of the government,” Wilson said.
“Polad is one step short of an institution that is effective in propelling a national positive feedback to the governors of any day. We say the best form of democracy is where the majority take the lead and the minority voices have a say.”

Gweru based Nyetanyahu argued that Polad is necessary to enhance national development “since one of its central objectives is the promotion of national unity, peace and stability.”
“It may be puzzling to some people because this is a unique phenomenon, a new thing in Africa but a great vision and convenient platform where invited leaders of political parties share their ideas and stronger value propositions to advice and influence government policies faster by-passing bureaucracy,” Netanyahu added.
“Polad to a good degree can enhance national development since one of its central objectives is the promotion of national unity, peace and stability,” he further explained.
MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has refused to join Polad.
