TWENTY-NINE more people succumbed to Covid-19 related complications on Monday with Harare topping the list with 11 deaths, the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Child Care reveals.

Bulawayo recorded seven deaths, Mashonaland Central recorded five deaths, Mashonaland West recorded two deaths while Mashonaland East, Midlands, Masvingo and Matabeleland North all recorded one fatality each.

At least 444 new cases were recorded as cases continue to decline from previously designated Covid-19 hotspots. The government has attributed the decline to its public health control measures it has been implementing

“444 new cases (all local) and 29 deaths reported today (7 day rolling average) for new cases fell to 526 today from 537 yesterday,” the ministry said.

Of the 7 294 tests conducted yesterday, the positivity rate was 6.1 percent.

The ministry further noted that 1 228 new recoveries while national recovery rate stands at 82 percent.  Active cases went down to 17 843.

As of Monday, Zimbabwe had recorded 120 532 cases, 98 551 recoveries and 4 138 deaths.

Turning to the vaccination campaign, the report indicated that 27 236 people received their first dose on Monday bringing the total number of people who have received their first dose to 2 091 550 while 29 491 received their second dose bringing the cumulative for second dose to 1 254 206.
