OBERT Manduna, the chairman of Bulawayo Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has resigned after spending two years with the organisation.
Manduna, a well-known businessman in the city cited personal reasons for quitting his position.
A resignation letter gleaned by The Zambezi Times was copied to the Zimbabwe Chamber of SMEs, Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs, International Labour Organisation (ILO), Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender, Community and SME Development.
“I would like to take this opportunity to announce my resignation as the chairman of Bulawayo Chamber of Small Medium Enterprises. My decision has been arrived at because of personal commitments elsewhere. I wish the Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs success in its projects and endeavors as they remain to be the voice of SMEs in Bulawayo,” wrote Manduna.
However, in a surprise development, Secretary of Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs Executive committee Duduzile Magagula also tendered her resignation while also citing personal reasons.
Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs has a number of associations as members some of which include Old CSC Tenants, Ok Mart Tenants, Emtonjeni Flea market, Fino Flea market, Ensimbini, Women in business, City Hall Flower Traders, Railway and Avenue SMEs among others.
Bulawayo Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (BCSME) is an association that was established in 2011 and is a member of the Zimbabwe Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (ZCSMEs) which is an Apex Body representing the interests of SMEs at a national level.
The BCSME is a provincial structure among other nine provisional chapters initiated by the
Government of Zimbabwe through the then ministry of Small to Medium Scale Enterprise as a vehicle to drive the development of SMEs, represent the interests of SME entrepreneurs, as well as to be the voice of SMEs.
