A Zanu PF Lupane Councillor has decried serious neglect of his area by politicians and government, describing the move as deliberate.
Shadreck Mathe of ward 22 in Lupanda recently told The Zambezi Times that his area has endured years of neglect in a development that has seen them turning to non-governmental organisations for help.
“I can safely say we are marginalised as a community here. We have multiple problems that any normal human being cannot do with them. Talk of bad roads, water, schools, shopping centres and clinics are very far.
“Not mentioning successive droughts which have made this whole area food insecure. Our livestock have been dying leaving many in deep poverty,” said Mathe.
The councillors who expressed gratitude to such organisations as Ntengwe who brought about the much-needed humanitarian assistance said his community felt neglected.
“We have raised our concerns several times no one seems to listen to us. It’s sad. Yes, I am a politician but I feel our senior politicians including our MP have let us down. We have been left on our own. As it is our kids are traveling kilometres to reach Regina Mundi primary and secondary schools, thanks to the Baptist Church which has been sponsoring the construction of a school nearby. But how long will we as a community rely on donor support.”
Mathe however appealed to politicians and government to consider their plight.
“Our MP (Mbongeni Dube) was only here once and we never saw him again. So, we appeal that they value people’s votes and give back to them, instead of remembering them when it’s election time,” fumed Mathe.
