EDUCATION is the key to success, is one famous quote. This quote is known to carry with it timeless wisdom. It has been true for many people in the world, including some great people and stars that have come from the humble homely of Irisvale, Esigodini, Matabeleland South.
At least 40 students of Irisvale Primary and Secondary Schools were direct beneficiaries of a relief in fees through the generosity of Talent Trackers Trust, partnering with Rainy Dayz Entertainment.
It was last year that Moyo started seeking ways to mobilise ways to avert the looming challenge of many young people dropping out of school. Having organised along with a couple of his contacts he was able to help over 120 households food hampers freshly into level 2 lockdown, in June 2020. He asserts with emotion that he was aware that was far from enough and he would have wanted to do more.

He then organised and mobilised ways to see that a good number of children in his home rural area could possibly find motivation to go back to school after the second lockdown, this 2021. There was no better way than to help relieve the guardians with paying fees and give them some motivation.
Working along former footballer, entertainment manager and philanthropist Malvern Ntini of Rainy Dayz Entertainment, Talent Trackers Trust saw 20 children of Irisvale Primary School, 20 from Irisvale Secondary school having their fees paid. They managed to motivate the children and leadership of the community having had long individual chats with the learners.
The purpose of this kind work was more of a way to build and start a long term relationship with a community that has been so wealthy and potent with talent that could spiritually, socially and economically transform livelihoods today and long into the future.
Moyo candidly says, “We are more inspired and moved to teach how to fish than give the fish. We think that if we can find ways to capacitate this place for socio-economic projects by drilling boreholes, setting up gardens people will be able to sustain themselves and maybe be able to have this important key to success – education more equitably.”
He added: “This was to establish a working relationship so we can be able to always be in touch with what problems local communities are facing so that when we can creatively come up with solutions.”
Most of the children that benefited from this were ecstatic. As of parents, the joy was overwhelming. We had the privilege of asking some of the children about their thoughts regarding the help they had received.
One student Nhlanhla Ndlovu said: “This will help me to study and finish his ‘O’ Level course in peace.”
It is estimated that in some parts of the country 20% of children do not go to school. – BBC. It is possible more are not going to school in the rural communities of Zimbabwe especially after and during the severe socio-economic impact of Covid-19.
The World Bank estimated that about 53% of children in impoverished countries would not want to go back to school after lockdown’s extreme levels.
These statistics moved Pastor Jedmos Moyo who is the founder and director of a Non-Governmental Organisation, Talent Trackers Trust whose vision is to bring about spiritual, social and economic transformation to local communities.
According to Moyo, his focus with Talent Trackers Trust is to be able to identify, groom and promote 300 Gospel Artists by October 2025. He says this initiative helps the roots of the talent he is scouting for.
Last year, 2020, Talent Trackers held an artist development workshop at D’Arguir Tyre Services in October with the theme Take It To The Limit where they were able to equip 30 Gospel artists and more stakeholders. Asking why it was so important for Talent Trackers Trust and Rainy Dayz Entertainment to be doing this in Irisvale, they said it is because the founders come from the area.
As if that is not enough, Talent Trackers Trust has recently acquired land in Irisvale, Esigodini which they’re seeking to be soon developing for a talent nurturing project. Ntini has been involved in philanthropy work in Zimbabwe for quite some time with his organisation, Rainy Dayz Entertainment.
Pastor Moyo and Malvern Ntini were generous to share that they are already drawing plans to further start as immediately as possible several income generating projects at Irisvale Secondary so as to capacitate the students to afford more of what they need in their education.
