HIGH rising sungura sensation and multi award winner, D.T BiO Mudimba, leader of the Kaani stars who is well known in the sungura circles by his sizzling Kujata jata single has observed a minute of silence for the Esigodini veld fire victims.
Mudimba last Saturday at his first live show in the outskirts of Bulawayo surprised many and sundry upon reaching on the mic to an expectant crowed called on for a minute of silence in respect of the men who succumbed to veld fire in Esigodini.
“We are really touched and saddened with what happened here in Esigodini where some of us perished while trying to fight veld fires which broke out in their area, theirs was a courageous effort on the responsibility to prevent veld fires.
“On my own and indeed on behalf of Kaani stars we do hereby express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Esigodini community,” he said.
D.T BiO went on to show his other side for the concern towards the environment.
“Let’s not start fires, this our shared responsibility seeing to it that y we all play our roles in protecting the environment,” he added
Scores of people attended the show at the popular Jabula in which was quite for some time due to disturbances caused by covid 19 where artist had to abscond having live shows.
Organisers of the show, Jackmlet Promotions representative Allan “Shumba” Kadodo said Mudimba is just a rare and unique artist.
“We are humbled by the fact that an artist goes that far to express his heart felt feelings to the veld fire victims’ families and the whole Esigodini community I haven’t seen such humility it was really touching and encouraging.
“As stakeholders in the arts industry I think it’s a wakeup call for artist at large to have concern for the environment so as to help all efforts aimed in curbing in these menacing veld fires as was put across by D.T. BiO.
“People do listen to artists when he announced for minute of silence everyone despite being drunk responded and he went on to be more of an environment activist at a gig this how influential artist can be ,” said Kadodo.
