GABORONE — The Government of Botswana and Geo Pomona Waste Collection have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities for sustainable waste management in the country.
The agreement was signed in Gaborone by Botswana Deputy Permanent Secretary, Projects, Ms Tshepo C. Kebakile, and Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, Special Advisor on Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability to the President of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, and Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Geo Pomona Waste Collection.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Botswana President Advocate Duma Boko.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation in waste management through technical cooperation, knowledge exchange and capacity building.
The partnership is expected to provide a platform for sharing expertise and exploring approaches to addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development in the region.
The agreement comes as African countries seek greater regional cooperation in addressing waste management and other environmental challenges.
The partnership also highlights the potential for African expertise and cooperation in developing sustainable waste management solutions.
