MORE than ten Covid-19 cases the highest within a single day have been reported in Hwange it has been established amid fears that the coal mining town sole isolation facility might fail to cope.
All the suspected cases are employees from coal mining companies and the majority of the affected individuals are self-isolating at their respective homes while two symptomatic patients are currently admitted at the isolation centre.
The clinic turned isolation centre is situated at Sindrella suburb which is within Hwange Colliery concession area.
While no official comment could be obtained from Provincial Medical Director Padingani Munekayi, by the time of going to press, authoritative sources told this publication that the district was on high alert as Covid-19 cases continue to rise.
There are fears that with the continued increase of Covid-19 reported cases within Hwange district the six bedded centre will not be able to cope as there are fears that the pandemic might spiral out of control.
This outbreak comes at a time when government has imposed a complete lockdown following an upsurge of the mutating novel virus which has hit most parts of the world.

Various companies led by Hwange Local Board recently pooled their resources together so that place can be turned into a largest referral centre within the district.
Recently, Padingani attributed the increase in cases in Hwange to the just ended festive season which saw a marked increase in tourists and returnees.
