AFRO JAZZ maestro Jeys Marabini has joined hands with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) to release a sizzling track that tackles crime in the society.
On the track dubbed Crime and Strings, Marabini collaborated with talented prison officer and dancehall artist Tare Kwangwari otherwise known as Tare True Defender in music circles. Also featuring on the track is Khami prison inmate Maurice Peterson.
The collaboration comes at a time Marabini is still rocking the airwaves with his jaw dropping reggae single hit titled Deliver Us Jah.
“The project was a collaborated efforts from three artists including myself, Peterson and Jeys. It was recorded at Play On Studio by BmC and I am grateful people are receiving the track very well.
“As part of the three core values of the ZPCS, that is to incarcerate, rehabilitate and reintegrate the ZPCS has proven that it is possible as witnessed by this project. Peterson was accorded a chance to pursue his musical journey and also collaborating with other artist as Jeys Marabini,” Tare told The Zambezi Times.
He added: “This is just a stepping stone. We have a drama that is on the cards with the majority of the cast being dominated by inmates and collaborating with the outside world means more avenues shall open up.”
Marabini who is not new collaboration said the new project was out of passion for music and the love of serving his nation as a patriotic musician.
“It was just a way of giving back to the community. I had to help the Prisons in fighting to end crime which is has been increasing in the country. I felt it was necessary to play my part as a musician, it shouldn’t be always about money,” he said.
Marabini said he was glad to work with Peterson describing him as a hugely talented artist who has a future in the music industry. Peterson is still serving at Khami Remand Prison.
Jeys also described Tare as a creative young artist who love his work.
“The two young artists are a bundle of talent I can tell you their future is bright, if given an opportunity.”
